Privacy Policy

Pothik: Train & Flight Tracker (“Pothik”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is an independent mobile application designed to provide live Bangladesh train tracking, schedules, delays, and global flight radar. We believe transit tools should be transparent, respectful of your battery, and free from intrusive tracking.

1. The Short Version

• No Account Required: You never need to register, provide an email, or sign in to use Pothik.
• No Advertisements: Pothik does not display banner ads, interstitial video ads, or use advertising identifiers.
• Your Location Stays on Your Device: GPS coordinates are accessed strictly within the app to calculate nearby stations or if you explicitly choose to share your train journey. It is not saved to our servers.
• Offline Timetables: Train schedules are stored locally on your device and work completely without internet access.

2. Information We Collect and How It Is Used

A. Location Information

Pothik requests access to your device’s precise location only when you actively use features that require it (such as centering the train map on your current position or searching for railway stations near you). Your location is processed entirely on your phone and is not transmitted to, collected by, or stored on our servers.

Voluntary Community GPS Sharing: If you are a passenger aboard a running train and choose to share your journey to help fellow commuters, your phone anonymously transmits the train number and current track coordinates to the community project (Find My BR Train). No personal identifiers or phone information are included.

B. Saved Trains and Backup ID

To let you quickly access your regular trains across reinstalls or device changes, saved train numbers and alert preferences may be quietly synced using an anonymous identifier. This identifier contains no name, email, or telephone number. You can view or delete this backup ID at any time from the app’s Profile screen.

C. Flight Map Data

When you pan the worldwide flight map, the bounding coordinates of the visible map viewport are queried against the open ADS-B network (adsb.lol under ODbL) to retrieve aircraft currently in that airspace. This request does not identify your personal location.

3. Third-Party Data Sources & Services

Pothik coordinates with reliable open data feeds to present live transit and flight movements:

• Find My BR Train: A community-driven initiative providing crowdsourced passenger locations and schedule corrections for Bangladesh Railway.
• adsb.lol: An open-access ADS-B repository licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
• OpenSky Network: Academic flight tracking data used for aircraft routes and trajectory verification.
• Map Tiles: Satellite tiles provided via Esri World Imagery, and street mapping rendered via OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap contributors.

4. Data Security

All communications between Pothik and external APIs are strictly encrypted using Transport Layer Security (HTTPS / SSL). We enforce industry-standard security practices to safeguard data in transit.

5. Data Retention & Deletion Rights

Because we do not maintain personal accounts, we do not store personal profile data. If you wish to permanently delete your anonymous saved trains backup, you can do so directly within the app under Profile → Delete Backup, or by submitting a request via our Data Deletion Form or emailing us at support@pothik.app.

6. Children’s Privacy

Pothik is intended for general transit planning and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children.

7. Disclaimer of Government Affiliation

Pothik is an independent application developed for the convenience of passengers in Bangladesh. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or endorsed by Bangladesh Railway, the Ministry of Railways, or the Government of Bangladesh.
